LESSONS *We are no longer accepting new students into our program.

Our 1-1/2 hour small group lessons are available Monday through Thursday for $40 per lesson. Why 1-1/2 hours? Because we believe that the students should have plenty of time in the barn before and after their lesson to care for their equine partner. We can easily make the lesson shorter for our youngest students with shorter attention spans. We ask students to commit to a 2-month session at a time. Lessons are weekly and are prepaid prior to the first lesson of the session with major credit cards, cash or checks. Keev Farm is a small intimate facility and cannot accommodate large groups.

PONY CAMP *We are no longer hosting pony camps.

Keev Farm Pony Camp is an opportunity to involve elementary students in pony and horse related activities. We will help campers through a variety of exercises with ponies while on the ground (in-hand), during grooming and while riding. Campers will also participate in crafts, games, barn chores and learning stations about ponies, tack and equine sports. Pony camp includes daily grooming clinics, riding lessons and in-hand exercises! Pony Camp is 4 consecutive days from 10am-5pm. No previous experience is necessary. Find out more about Keev Farm Pony Camps on the "Events" tab or select the link below.

WORKSHOPS

Keev Farm hosts a variety of unmounted and mounted workshops targeted toward youth that are interested in working with our horses or ponies or that want to haul-in their own horse. Workshops vary from beginner groom clinics to more experienced playdates in our outdoor equine playground and mini cross-country course. Find out more about upcoming workshops on the "Events" tab or select the link below.

TRAINING

Need some assistance in helping your horse or pony be a better partner or having a better connection with them? Keev Farm provides limited opportunities for private lessons as well as full-care pony training. Haul-in during group lessons, schedule a private lesson or ask us about our availability for leaving your horse with us for training and participate in the training as much as necessary. Training focus is on foundational skills such as developing confidence, managing dominance, yielding to pressure, equalizing whoa and go, developing balance, relaxation and responsibility for gait, and developing lateral movements and good biomechanics. E-mail us for more information, prices and availability.

SERVICES

Our mission at Keev Farm is to help children develop a connection and partnership with our equine friends using good horsemanship habits on the ground and in the saddle. Keev Farm offers a variety of learning opportunities for experienced children and those new to horses and ponies, including lessons, camps, workshops and horse training. Our goal is to create a pathway for our students to become caring, confident, knowledgeable and independent equestrians. To accomplish this mission, we design programs in which children can:

  • Partner with Keev Farm horses and ponies as they learn to care for, exercise and train.

  • Using play and games, children learn to communicate with our equine friends.

  • Explore different equine sports.

Keev Farm specializes in integrating the natural horsemanship foundation training of our horses with our teaching of the sport horse disciplines. We often teach our students the foundation skills on the ground (i.e. yielding to pressure, energy levels, rhythm, relaxation and balance) to help them better understand the conversations they have with their equine partner in the saddle. I enjoy teaching children these riding and training skills that they will take with them as they enter the vast and diverse equine world.

Our experienced horses and ponies contribute to the learning success of the children. Our Shetland ponies (42"-45" at the withers) are perfect partners for building the confidence in our young handlers. Our team also includes Welsh Ponies and Arabian horses for children comfortable handling a taller teammate.

Wanting to develop a better partnership with your own horse or pony? If someone is looking for help with training, we provide limited opportunities for private lessons and an 8-week minimum horse training.
